Amsterdam #

After Istanbul, for me anyway, was a stop in Amsterdam. One of my very favorite cities I’ve ever been to, I can’t help but stop when I’m in the area. (I have a secret dream to retire on a boat in the canals there)

Rainy Amsterdam street at dusk with strings of holiday lights overhead, wet tram tracks, and a parked bicycle on the brick sidewalk Bicycles lean on a bridge railing over an Amsterdam canal, with the domed Basilica of St. Nicholas rising in the grey distance The tall clock tower of Amsterdam’s Westerkerk above canal houses and autumn trees, seen across the water on an overcast day Tourists pose around the giant red-and-white I amsterdam letters in front of the Rijksmuseum on a wet grey day Cobbled path across the green lawn of Museumplein in Amsterdam toward the rounded Van Gogh Museum under overcast sky Black houseboat moored on the Amstel in Amsterdam near a white drawbridge, with bikes and bare autumn trees along the quay

Glass-roofed canal tour boat motors along the Amstel in Amsterdam past river locks and the domed Royal Theater Carre Amsterdam canal lined with houseboats and yellow autumn trees, fallen leaves floating on the still grey water Weathered bicycles chained along a wet Amsterdam bridge at dusk, canal and the towers of St. Nicholas Basilica beyond Tour-boat docks on Amsterdam’s Damrak harbor under heavy clouds, Centraal Station’s twin towers in the distance Person crossing a broad brick plaza in Amsterdam as a blue-and-white tram passes, church towers silhouetted against the low sun Airplane wing over Dutch farmland, greenhouses, and waterways near Amsterdam, low clouds drifting below Puffy clouds scattered over green Dutch fields and glinting greenhouse roofs, seen past an airplane wing
